Modeling Approaches to Assess Soil Erosion by Water at the Field Scale with Special Emphasis on Heterogeneity of Soils and Crops

Information on soil erosion and related sedimentation processes are very important for natural resource management sustainable farming. Plenty of models available studying but only a few suitable dynamic assessments at the field-scale. To date, there no field-scale considering complex agricultural systems simulation erosion. We conducted review 51 different evaluated based their representation by water. Secondly, we consider suitability assessing more field designs, such as patch cropping, strip cropping agroforestry (alley-cropping systems) other land practices. Several allow daily sub-field scale, EPIC, PERFECT, GUEST, EPM, TCRP, SLEMSA, APSIM, RillGrow, WaNuLCAS, SCUAF, CREAMS. However, further model development is needed with respect to interaction components, i.e., rainfall intensity, overland flow, crop cover, scaling limitations.
